On April 21st, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that SF Mayor Gavin Newsom officially announced his bid to run for the state's most powerful position.
No, not the cushiony lap of Nancy Pelosi--although, Newsom may not be opposed to such seating assignments--but the 2010 Governor's race.
Making his call to office through an official Youtube release has the 12-18 year old demographic reeling, and his 250,000 plus Twitter followers are poised to be the backbone of his social media herd of sheep.
All are not enthused, however, as a quick run through of the 1000 plus comments left at the bottom of the aforementioned Chronicle article clearly shows that Newsom is one hated son-of-a-judge.
Here's a taste of the comments:

I just threw up in my mouth. I will be FLOORED if that sleeze ball gets ONE vote other than his own. Utterly laughable that he would run for govenor. Grotesque and laughable.

Madden should sell him a bus or two for his campaign now that he quit TV . Madden should also eat one of his turkeys he likes to make and leave a huge Raider Brown in the toilet bowl before delivering the bus to Gavin.

I had to pinch myself and ask "am I living in the same city as this mayor?" about a minute into that youtube video. It seems Newsom thinks his youth and good looks will transfer to some kind of California Camelot in Sacramento. Let's hope the younger voters are smart enough to see through this virtual media charade.

The dream outcome would be for Gavin Newsome to run for something else and flop badly. Then someone like Rudy Giuliani could come in and wipe the winos and gangbangers off the streets of San Francisco. But no one is holding their breath waiting for this to happen.
